Mateo Fresquez

Mateo’s first Bikram yoga class was here in San Luis Obispo, October 2008. He had admired yoga “theoretically” for many years from a safe distance. It wasn’t until a good friend with a regular practice helped him get up the nerve to come to a class. He wasn’t sold on it in the beginning. “It was Hard! But I have to confess that it made me feel good in the days following.” That, along with the fact that everyone at the studio (especially the staff) was so incredibly warm and supportive, kept Mateo coming back to class. “I love Bikram Yoga because it is hard and it feels so great knowing that I just pushed myself to my very limits. And realizing those limits are hardly limits anymore, but markers in my path to growth. Something to carry into other parts of my life! ” Mateo graduated teacher training in the fall of 2011, in Los Angeles. He loves teaching Bikram Yoga because it’s a way to inspire people to inspire themselves… and that’s awesome. Outside of the yoga studio Mateo enjoys surfing, hiking, kayaking, playing music, singing, writing and anything that inspires the creative spirit. “As someone who has grown up with a certain amount of physical limitations and challenges (I have a mild case of Cerebral Palsy) I can say that Bikram Yoga has taught me that the biggest challenge that will ever be asked of you is to Make Up Your Mind. Go for it!!!”
Message to you the student: “Concentrate, Meditate and Breathe. When trying to get your body into the postures it’s easy to forget to keep a focused, controlled breath. Your breath is your base. Once you control your breathing all you can do is advance in your practice.”

Mateo Fresquez is currently not instructing any classes.
